ORIGINS OF NUMIDIA

Numidia reaches back into antiquity when the Kingdom of Numidia embraced most of the territory covering modern Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and Libya, with Cirta, today’s Constantine, as its capital city. In the course of its turbulent history the kingdom eventually became a province in the Roman Empire. 

The principal inhabitants of Numidia were the Berbers, of which around 50 million continue to populate the region.

This chequered history on one of the main trade routes and cultural pathways of antiquity is reflected in the rich variety of the region‘s cuisine.

Our restaurant is delighted to be able to introduce you to some of the region’s overlooked culinary delights, cooked as if in a home setting.We love good food and its effects on health and wellbeing. We source our ingredients locally, always seeking out organic freshness wherever possible and using only the best condiments like sea or Himalayan salts; olive, black seed and coconut oils,and ghee.
